Walk 5 / Hauz-e-Khas

The Hauz Khas (or the royal reservoir) has attracted kings, saints, scholars, artists and musicians to its banks for over eight hundred years. Join us as we unearth and celebrate some of these layers of history -both medieval and contemporary- and piece together the unique cultural essence of this settlement.

What to expect: Making our way through a bustling urban village brimming with people and commerce, we visit a complex of 14th century Tughlaq monuments situated at one edge of the tank. From this standpoint, we observe the many layers of interventions and appropriation, and try to make sense of the most culturally exciting – and polarizing- neighbourhood of Delhi.

Ideal for: The young at heart!
